The appellant was convicted on 7 July 1978 in the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory on three counts contai in one indictment. The first count was of conspiring with snothe:
named person (hereinafter called M)
"to obstruct the course of justice, that is to say to cause Constable Garry Ian Griffiths and Constable Bruce Anthony Howard to act corruptly in relation to the preferring or prosecuting of charges."
