SUPERANNUATION.
No. 11 of 1954.
An Act to amend the Superannuation Act 1922-1952, and for other purposes.
[Assented to 20th April, 1954.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short title and citation. 1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Superannuation Act 1954. (2.) The Superannuation Act 1922-1952 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Superannuation Act 1922-1954.
Commencement. 2.—(1.) Subject to this section, this Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. (2.) Sections eight, nine, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-eight and twenty-nine of this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-four.
(3.) Section sixteen of this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the thirty-first day of October, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-three. (4.) Section twenty-one of this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the thirtieth day of March, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-one.
Interpretation. 3. Section four of the Principal Act is amended— (a) by omitting from sub-section (4.) the words", by notice published in the Gazette,"; (b) by omitting from sub-section (4.) the words "publication of the notice" and inserting in their stead the word "direction"; (c) by omitting from sub-section (5.) the words ",by notice published in the Gazette,"; (d) by omitting from sub-section (5.) the words "publication of the notice" and inserting in their stead the word "direction"; (e) by omitting from sub-section (6.) the words "by notice published in the Gazette,"; and (f) by omitting from sub-section (6.) the words "publication of the notice" and inserting in their stead the words "the direction". 4.—(1.) Section four b of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section inserted in its stead:—
