Parliamentary Retiring Allowances (Decimal Currency)

An Act to amend the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1964, as amended by the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1965, in relation to Decimal Currency.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short title and citation. 1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances (Decimal Currency) Act 1965. (2.) The Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1964, as amended by the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1965, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3.) Section 1 of the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1965 is amended by omitting sub-section (4.). (4.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Parliamentary Retiring Allowances Act 1964-1965.
Commencement. 2. This Act shall come into operation on the fourteenth day of February, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-six.
Increase in pensions in relation to certain persons who were members of the twenty-fourth Parliament. 3. Section 17 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-sections (4.), (5.) and (6.) (wherever occurring) the words "One thousand one hundred and forty-five pounds sixteen shillings and eightpence" and inserting in their stead the words "Two thousand two hundred and ninety-one dollars and sixty-seven cents ".
