An Act to make amendments of the social security law, the family assistance law, and other Acts, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Family and Community Services (2000 Budget and Related Measures) Act 2000.

2 Commencement

(1) Subject to this section, this Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

(2) The following provisions: (a) Schedule 1, except for items 20 and 21; (b) Schedules 2 and 3; (c) item 1 of Schedule 4; commence on 1 January 2001.

(3) Item 2 of Schedule 4 commences on 1 March 2001.

Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
