An Act to amend legislation relating to ozone protection and synthetic greenhouse gas, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Legislation Amendment Act 2003.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3 Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

4 Application and transitional

(1) To the extent that the amendments made by this Act have the effect of creating, or expanding the scope of, an offence, those amendments do not apply to conduct occurring before a date fixed by Proclamation for the purposes of this section.

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to an offence against subsection 18(7) of the Principal Act.

(3) In this section:

Principal Act means the Ozone Protection Act 1989, as amended by this Act.

1 Part 1 of the Dictionary at the end of the Act (subparagraph (b)(vi) of the definition of Commonwealth document) After "Ozone Protection", insert "and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management".
