An Act to amend the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Act 1989 in relation to the TSRA budget, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Amendment (TSRA) Act 1997.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3 Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments relating to TSRA budget

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Act 1989

1 Subsections 58(2) and (3) Repeal the subsections.

2 Paragraph 61(7)(c) Omit "or" (last occurring).

3 Paragraphs 61(7)(d) and 63(4)(fa) Repeal the paragraphs.

4 Paragraph 66(2)(c) Omit "or" (last occurring).

5 Paragraph 66(2)(d) Repeal the paragraph.

6 Before section 144U Insert in Division 9 of Part 3A:

144TA Money payable to TSRA

(1) There is payable to the TSRA such money as the Parliament appropriates from time to time for the TSRA.
