An Act to amend the social security law and certain other laws in relation to social security concession cards, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Social Security Legislation Amendment (Concession Cards) Act 2001.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on 1 July 2001.

3 Application

(1) On and after 1 July 2001, section 3 of the Social Security Legislation Amendment (Newly Arrived Resident's Waiting Periods and Other Measures) Act 1997 applies in relation to Part 2A.1 of the Social Security Act 1991, as amended by this Act, in the same way as before that date it applied to Part 2A.1 of the Social Security Act 1991.

(2) On and after 1 July 2001, section 3 of the Social Security Legislation Amendment (Newly Arrived Resident's Waiting Periods and Other Measures) Act 1997 applies in relation to the provisions of the Health Insurance Act 1973, as amended by this Act, in the same way as before that date it applied to the provisions of the Health Insurance Act 1973.
