The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Migration Amendment (Detention Arrangements) Act 2005.
2 Commencement
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

However, the provision(s) do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur. 4. Schedule 1, item 18 The day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 29 June 2005 However, if item 17 of Schedule 1 to the Migration Litigation Reform Act 2005 commences on or before the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent, the provision(s) do not commence at all. 5. Schedule 1, items 19 to 21 The day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 29 June 2005
