An Act relating to Agreements between Australia and each of the States in respect of the Provision of Financial Assistance for Sewerage Works
1 Short title [see Note 1]
This Act may be cited as the Sewerage Agreements Act 1973.
2 Commencement [see Note 1]
This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
3 Approval of execution of agreements
The execution, on behalf of the Government of Australia, of agreements between that Government and the Government of each of the States substantially in accordance with the form set out in the Schedule is approved.
4 Payments to States to be made out of Consolidated Revenue Fund or Loan Fund
The payments and advances by the Government of Australia to the Government of a State provided for in an agreement referred to in section 3 may be made, by way of financial assistance to that State, on the terms and conditions contained in that agreement, out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
5 Authority to borrow
The Treasurer may, in accordance with the provisions of the Commonwealth Inscribed Stock Act 1911-1966 or in accordance with the provisions of an Act authorizing the issue of Treasury Bills, borrow moneys not exceeding in the aggregate $30,000,000.
