The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Law and Justice Legislation Amendment (Marking of Plastic Explosives) Act 2007.
2 Commencement
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedules 1 to 3 The later of: 25 August 2007 (a) the day after the end of the period of 6 months beginning on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) the day on which the Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Detection, done at Montreal on 1 March 1991, comes into force for Australia. However, the provision(s) do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur. The Minister must announce by notice in the Gazette the day on which the Convention comes into force for Australia.
