The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Social Security Amendment (Parenting Payment Transitional Arrangement) Act 2011.
2 Commencement This Act commences on 1 July 2011.
3 Schedule(s) Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
Schedule 1—Parenting payment transitional arrangement
Social Security Act 1991
1 After paragraph 500D(3)(c) Insert: (ca) the person was the principal carer of the child immediately before 1 July 2011; and
2 Application Paragraph 500D(3)(ca) of the Social Security Act 1991 applies for the purpose of determining whether a person is a PP child of another person on or after 1 July 2011.
