An Act to amend the Higher Education Support Act 2003 and the Trade Support Loans Act 2014, and for other purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Education Legislation Amendment (Overseas Debt Recovery) Act 2015.

2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1 The later of: 1 January 2016 (a) the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) 1 January 2016. 3. Schedule 2, items 1 to 3 The later of: 1 January 2016 (a) the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) 1 January 2016. 4. Schedule 2, item 4 The later of: 1 January 2016 (a) the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) 1 January 2016. However, if item 124 of Schedule 2 to the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Student Measures) Act 2015 commences before the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent, the provision does not commence at all. 5. Schedule 2, item 5 The later of: Never commenced (a) immediately after the commencement of the provisions covered by table item 2; and (b) immediately after the commencement of item 124 of Schedule 2 to the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Student Measures) Act 2015. However, the provisions do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur. 6. Schedule 2, items 6 to 10 The later of: 1 January 2016 (a) the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) 1 January 2016. 7. Schedule 3 The later of: 1 January 2016 (a) the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) 1 January 2016. 8. Schedule 4 The day this Act receives the Royal Assent. 26 November 2015 9.
