The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title This Act is the VET Student Loans (Consequential Amendments and Transitional Provisions) Act 2016.
2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Sections 1 to 3 and anything in this Act not elsewhere covered by this table The day this Act receives the Royal Assent. 7 December 2016 2. Schedule 1, Part 1 At the same time as the VET Student Loans Act 2016 commences. 1 January 2017 However, the provisions do not commence at all if that Act does not commence. 3. Schedule 1, Part 2 The later of: 1 January 2017 (a) the commencement of the VET Student Loans Act 2016; and (paragraph (a) applies) (b) immediately after the commencement of Schedule 2 to the Higher Education Support Legislation Amendment (2016 Measures No. 1) Act 2016. However, the provisions do not commence at all unless both of the events mentioned in paragraphs (a) and (b) occur. 4. Schedule 2 The day this Act receives the Royal Assent. 7 December 2016
