An Act to amend the Customs Act 1901, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title This Act is the Customs Amendment (Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations Plus Implementation) Act 2018.

2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1 The later of: 13 December 2020 (a) the day this Act receives the Royal Assent; and (F2020N00130) (b) the day the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations Plus, done at Nuku'alofa, Tonga on 14 June 2017, enters into force for Australia. (paragraph (b) applies) However, the provisions do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur. The Minister must announce, by notifiable instrument, the day the Agreement enters into force for Australia.
