An Act to amend the Fair Work Act 2009 and the law relating to long service leave in the coal mining industry, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title This Act is the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Protecting Worker Entitlements) Act 2023.

2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 3, Part 2 The day after this Act receives the Royal Assent. 1 July 2023 6. Schedule 4 The day after this Act receives the Royal Assent. 1 July 2023 7. Schedule 5 The day after the end of the period of 6 months beginning on the day this Act receives the Royal Assent. 30 December 2023 8. Schedule 6 The earlier of: 1 January 2024 (a) a single day to be fixed by Proclamation; and (paragraph (b) applies) (b) the first 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October to occur after the end of the period of 6 months beginning on the day this Act receives the Royal Assent. 9. Schedules 7 and 8 The day after this Act receives the Royal Assent. 1 July 2023
