Currency Regulations2 (Amendment)
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Currency Act 1965.

1. Regulations 2 and 3 of the Currency Regulations are repealed and the following regulations substituted:
Interpretation
"2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears, 'the Act' means the Currency Act 1965.
Standard weight of coins
"3. For the purposes of section 13 of the Act, the standard weight of each coin to which that section applies is the standard weight specified in Column 2 of the Schedule in relation to the denomination of the coin.".
Designs of coins
2. Regulation 4 of the Currency Regulations is amended— (a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (d) (vi) "or (viiiA)" and substituting ", (viiiA) or (viiiB)"; (b) by inserting after sub-paragraph (d) (viiiA) the following sub-paragraphs: "(viiib) in the case of a coin of the denomination of 50 cents that refers on its obverse side to the year 1982 as the year of the coin—the inscriptions 'XII COMMONWEALTH GAMES BRISBANE' and '50 CENTS' and a representation of the XII Commonwealth Games symbol superimposed on a map of Australia that is surrounded by 12 representations of a persons engaged in various sporting activities. (viiic) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $10 that refers on its obverse side to the year 1982 as the year of the coin—the inscriptions 'XII COMMONWEALTH GAMES BRISBANE' and '10 DOLLARS' and a representation of the XII Commonwealth Games symbol superimposed on a map of Australia that is surrounded by 12 shields bearing representations of persons engaged in various sporting activities and is, together with those shields, superimposed on a sunburst design;"; (c) by inserting "or (xi)" after "sub-paragraph (x)" in sub-paragraph (d) (ix); (d) by omitting from sub-paragraph (d) (ix) "and" (last occurring); and (e) by adding at the end thereof the following word and sub-paragraph: ", and (xi) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $200 that refers on its obverse side to the year 1982 as the year of the coin—the inscriptions 'XII COMMONWEALTH GAMES BRISBANE' and '200 DOLLARS' and a representation of a hurdler and the XII Commonwealth games symbol.".
