Statutory Rules 1989 No.2781 Currency Regulations2 (Amendment) I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Currency Act 1965. Regulation 4 of the Currency Regulations is amended: (a) by inserting in subparagraph (d) (viiibda) ", (viiibf) or (viiibf)" after "subparagraph (viiibe)"; (b) by omitting from subparagraph (d) (viiibda) "a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin" and substituting "the inscription (in figures) of a year"; (c) by inserting after subparagraph (d) (viiibe) the following subparagraphs: "(viiibf) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $5 the composition of which is not less than 99.95% platinum— the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/20 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of an adult koala on a forked branch of a tree with a young koala clinging to its back and the inscription (in figures) of a year; (S.R. 313/89)—Cat. No. 14/12.10.1989 (viiibg) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $5 the composition of which is not less than 99.9% silver—the inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 1 OZ. 999 SILVER', a representation of a kookaburra perched on a tree stump and a representation of 2 Australian flora and a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin, all encircled by raised beads inside the rim of the coin;"; (d) by omitting from sub-subparagraph (d) (viiif) (b) "a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin" and substituting "the inscription (in figures) of a year"; (e) by omitting subparagraph (d) (viiifa) and substituting the following subparagraph: "(viiifa) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $15 the composition of which is not less than 99.95% platinum: (a) the inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/10 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of a koala and a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin; or (b) the inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/10 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of an adult koala on a forked branch of a tree with a young koala clinging to its back and the inscription (in figures) of a year;"; (f) by omitting from sub-subparagraph (d) (viiig) (b) "a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin" and substituting "the inscription (in figures) of a year"; (g) by omitting subparagraph (d) (viiiga) and substituting the following subparagraph: "(viiiga) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $25 the composition of which is not less than 99.95% platinum: (a) the inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/4 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of a koala and a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin; or (b) the inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/4 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of an adult koala on a forked branch of a tree with a young koala clinging to its back and the inscription (in figures) of a year;"; (h) by omitting from sub-subparagraph (d) (viiih) (b) "a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin" and substituting "the inscription (in figures) of a year"; (i) by omitting subparagraph (d) (viiiha) and substituting the following subparagraph: "(viiiha) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $50 the composition of which is not less than 99.95% platinum: (a) the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/2 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of a koala and a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin; or (b) the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1/2 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of an adult koala on a forked branch of a tree with a young koala clinging to its back and the inscription (in figures) of a year;"; (j) by omitting from sub-subparagraph (d) (viiij) (b) "a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin" and substituting "the inscription (in figures) of a year"; (k) by omitting subparagraph (d) (viiija) and substituting the following subparagraph: "(viiija) in the case of a coin of the denomination of $100 the composition of which is not less than 99.95% platinum: (a) the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of a koala and a reference (in figures) to the year of the coin; or (b) the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM', a representation of an adult koala on a forked branch of a tree with a young koala clinging to its back and the inscription (in figures) of a year;". The Schedule to the Act 2. Regulation 7 of the Currency Regulations is amended by adding at the end of the following subregulation: "(7) The Act has effect, on and after 31 October 1989, as if the reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the reference to the denomination 'Five dollars', to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard compositions 'copper, aluminium and nickel', '92.5% silver and 7.5% other metal', 'not less than 99.99% gold', 'not less than 99.95% platinum' and 'not less than 99.9% silver'.". Schedule 3. The Schedule to the Currency Regulations is amended by inserting after item 12a the following items: "12b $5 not less than 99.95% platinum 1.571 14.10 1.40 0.015 12c $5 not less than 99.9% silver 31.635 40.60 4.00 0.500".
