1 Name of Order This Order is the Civil Aviation Amendment Order (No. R91) 2004. 2 Commencement This Order commences on gazettal. 3 Replacement of section 100.95 of the Civil Aviation Orders Section 100.95 of the Civil Aviation Orders is omitted and a new section substituted as set out in Schedule 1.

SECTION 100.95
ADMINISTRATION AND PROCEDURE — AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER LICENCES — CATEGORY INSTRUMENTS 1 APPLICATION 1.1 Except where otherwise approved or directed by CASA, this section of the CAOs applies to the requirements for the grant of an aircraft maintenance engineer licence in category instruments and for the grant of additional ratings to a licence in this category. 1.2 This section of the CAOs is to be read in conjunction with the current issue of CAO section 100.90 and AAC 9-95. 2 DEFINITIONS Terms and abbreviations used in this section are detailed in CAO section 100.90, but in addition: single axis autopilot means a system which controls an aircraft about a single axis (usually roll) and may be radio coupled. multi axis autopilot means a system which controls an aircraft about the: (a) roll and pitch axis; or (b) roll, pitch and yaw axis; and, in addition, either (a) or (b) may have automatic pitch trim, radio coupling or be associated with a Flight Director System. digital system means a system where the components of the system employ digital techniques and are interconnected via a data bus. data bus means the hardware required to carry digital information between digital information processing components within the system. 3 RATINGS Category instruments is classified into the following ratings:
