CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS
EXEMPTION UNDER REGULATION 308
1, JOHN EDWIN INNES PIKE, Acting Director of Aviation Safety, under regulation 308 of the Civil Aviation Regulations (the Regulations), exempt the pilot in command of a float plane operated by Kenair Seaplanes Pty Limited from compliance with the provisions of paragraphs 166 (1) (d), (f) and (g) of the Regulations while the pilot is in, on, or otherwise associated with the operation of, the float plane on condition that:
(a) when taking-off or landing, the float plane turns in a direction that will enable the float plane to make a water landing in the event of engine failure; and
(b) despite paragraph (a), the pilot complies with the directions (if any) given by Air Traffic Control; and
(c) the company's operations manual sets out details of the procedures necessary to give effect to paragraphs (a) and (b).
