DIRECTIONS UNDER SUBREGULATION 235 (7)
I, DAVID ALAN VILLIERS, Acting General Manager, Airworthiness Branch, CASA, a delegate of CASA, issue the following directions under subregulation 235 (7) of the Civil Aviation Regulations.
PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS FOR REFUELLING OF AIRCRAFT
1. The following portable fire extinguishers are of an approved type for the purposes of paragraph 4.4.4 of section 20.9 of the Civil Aviation Orders: (a) fire extinguishers of the powder extinguisher type that have a rating under Australian Standard (AS) 1940-1993 that is 2A/60B or higher, combined with a rating under that standard for dealing with electrical fires; and (b) fire extinguishers of the foam extinguisher type that have an AS 1940‑1993 rating that is 2A/20B or higher.
2. The approved capacity of a fire extinguisher referred to above is a capacity that enables it to cover the maximum floor area that an extinguisher with its rating should cover in accordance with AS 1940-1993.
