AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Diamond DA40 Series Aeroplanes AD/DA40/5 Aircraft Flight Manual Operating Limitation 6/2005 DM
Applicability: DA 40-D aeroplanes equipped with Thielert TAE125-01 engines without the applicable Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) software update (Thielert Aircraft Engine GmbH Service Bulletin TM TAE 125-0004 Revision 4 and AD/THIELERT/3 refer). Requirement: 1. Amend the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) [Document Number 6.01.05-( )] Operating Limitations, Section 2.4 Power-Plant Limitations adding the following: Power settings for prolonged descents above 5000ft must not fall below 30%. Amendment of the AFM may be accomplished by inserting a copy of this Directive in the AFM. 2. Remove the Requirement 1 AFM amendment. Note: LBA AD D-2005-145 (EASA approval 2005-2921) refers. Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Before 30 April 2005. For Requirement 2 - Concurrent with accomplishment of the FADEC software update required by AD/THIELERT/3. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 April 2005.
