AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Israel Aircraft Industries 1123 and 1124 (Westwind) Series Aeroplanes AD/IAI-W/28 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel 6/2005 DM Electrical Wire Bundles
Applicability: Model 1124 and 1124A Westwind aeroplanes. Requirement: Unless previously accomplished, carry out the following actions as detailed in IAI Westwind Alert Service Bulletin 1124-24A-154 dated 22 March 2004: a. Inspect the electrical wire bundles in the overhead circuit breaker panel for chafing,
b. If necessary, repair and rework the bundles,
c. Add anti-chafing means, and
d. Check for adequate clearance. Note: Israel CAA AD 24-05-02-32 refers. Compliance: Within 50 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 April 2005. Background: This Directive requires a one time inspection of the wiring harnesses together with the installation of protection and, if necessary, repairs or rework of the harnesses. The Israel CAA has received a report of one in-flight fire caused by electrical shorts in the wire bundles due to chaffing.
