AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Embraer EMB-120 (Brasilia) Series Aeroplanes AD/EMB-120/38 Electrical Wiring 9/2005
Applicability: All EMB-120( ) aeroplanes. Requirement: Modify the fastening of the electrical wiring harnesses installed at the wing root (both LH and RH sides), alter the routing of the right outboard flap actuator harness and install anti-chaffing protection on those harnesses in accordance with the detailed instructions and procedures described in the Embraer Service Bulletin 120-24-0059, original issue, dated 6 April 2004, or later revisions approved by the Brazilian Centro Técnico Aeroespacial (CTA). Note: DAC Brazil AD 2005-06-01 refers. Compliance: Within the next 5000 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 1 September 2005. Background: The actions required by his Directive are necessary to reduce the potential of ignition sources in the vicinity of the fuel tanks, which, in combination with flammable fuel vapours, could result in fuel tank explosions and consequent loss of the aeroplane.
