AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Dornier 228 Series Aeroplanes AD/DO 228/4 Cockpit and Cabin Auxiliary Heaters 11/2005 Applicability: Dornier 228-100, -101, -200, -201, 202 and -212 model aeroplane with option P05 or P09 incorporated. Requirement: Unless previously accomplished, modify the internal wiring of the cockpit and cabin auxiliary heaters in accordance with Fairchild Dornier GmbH Service Bulletin SB-228-249 dated 19 November 2001. Note 1: Compliance with this Directive replaces the requirements of All Operator Telefax No. AOT-228-21-024. Note 2: LBA AD 2002-264 refers. Compliance: Within six months after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 October 2005. Background: The German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) has been advised of instances of overheating of the internal heating coil on cockpit and cabin auxiliary heaters have occurred.
