Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B767/215 Centre Overhead Stowage Bin 12/2005
Module Support Structure
Applicability: Model 767-200 and 767-300 series aircraft equipped with centre overhead stowage bin modules; as identified in Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 767-25-0320, dated 11 April 2002, or later FAA approved revision.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2005-20-05 Amdt 39-14298.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of
24 November 2005.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 24 November 2005.
Background: The FAA received the results of tests conducted by the manufacturer where some centre overhead stowage bin modules failed at 6.6G along the 9G tie rod forward bolt line. Failure of the attachment of the 9G tie rods could result in collapse of those stowage bin modules, and consequent injury to passengers and crew and interference with their ability to evacuate the aircraft in an emergency.
