If not previously accomplished, inspect transient absorption zener (TAZ) diodes and metal oxide varistor (MOV) modules to determine if those parts are outside of tolerance limits, in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Dornier Service Bulletins SB-328-30-417, dated 24 January 2002. 2. If any TAZ diode or MOV module is found to be outside of tolerance, replace the faulty part with a new part in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of the service bulletin. Note: LBA AD 2002-262 refers. Compliance: For Requirement1 - Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive. For Requirement1 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1 inspection. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 January 2006. Background: The German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) has received advice from the aircraft manufacturer that a Revision of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual will provide procedures for the inspection of the TAZ diodes and MOV modules following a lightning strike. This Directive requires an initial inspection of all installed units to detect faulty units affected by earlier lightning strikes.
