AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes AD/DO 328/16 Engine Control Rod Ends 1/2006
Applicability: Dornier 328-100 aeroplanes Serial Numbers: 3005 up to 3098, 3100, 3101, 3103, 3104, 3106, 3107, 3109, 3110, 3112, 3113, 3115, 3117 and 3119 that have Engine Control Cable P/N 001A761A1130-016 with manufacturing Batch No. 1000125850 and 1000144210 installed.
Engine Control Cables with different batch No's are not affected. Requirement: Unless previously accomplished, replace the Engine Control Cables in accordance with Dornier 328 Service Bulletin No. SB-328-76-409 Revision 1 dated 17 May 2002 or later LBA approved revision.
Note: LBA AD 2002-252 refers. Compliance: Not later than the next scheduled C-Check after the effective date of this AD. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 January 2006. Background: The manufacturer of the control cable, after performing destructive tests on the cables, identified cracks on the end fittings of a batch of cables. Failure to replace the cables could result in failure of the end fitting and subsequent loss of control of the engine(s).
