Airbus Industrie A319, A320 and A321 Series Aeroplanes

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/A320/113 Cockpit Sliding Window Lower Mechanism 2/2001

Applicability: Model A319, A320, and A321 aircraft, with manufacturer serial numbers 0718 through 0862, 0864 through 0926, 0928 through 0972, 0974, 0975, 0977, 0979 through 0981, 0983 through 0990, 0992, 0997, 1001, 1006, 1008, 1010, 1024, and 1027.

Requirement: Action in accordance with DGAC AD 2000-518-157(B).

Note: Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-56-1007 refers.

Compliance: Before 23 March 2002.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 February 2001.

Background: The DGAC received a report of a right hand sliding window which failed to open due to a missing lock pin. Emergency evacuation would not be possible in the event of a jammed sliding window. This Directive requires a visual inspection of the forward and aft lower bogie to verify the presence of lock pins.
