Airbus Industrie A319, A320 and A321 Series Aeroplanes
AD/A320/38 Nose Section - Structural Reinforcement 9/94 Applicability: A320 Aircraft, Serial Numbers 5 to 8 inclusive and 10 to 24 inclusive. Requirement: Replace the existing angles and fittings at fuselage frames 1 and 2 (fuselage stations 350 and 385) in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-53-1002.

Compliance: Accomplish the applicable modifications before 12000 flights for aircraft serial numbers 5 to 8 and 10 to 12 inclusive and before 15000 flights for aircraft serial numbers 13 to 24 inclusive.
This AD is effective from 18 August 1994.
Background: Fatigue tests have shown that the web and fitting at fuselage frame 2 are susceptible to fatigue damage. The existing fittings are therefore replaced with redesigned fittings providing an improved fatigue life.
