AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A330/12 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Ram Air Turbine Rotary Solenoids 10/2004
Applicability: AIRBUS A330 aircraft, models -201, -202, -203, -223, -243, -301, -302, -303, -321, -
322, -323, -341, -342 and -343, all serial numbers, fitted with RAT module, model
ERPS06M part number (PN) 766351, 768084, 770379, 770952 or 770952A, all serial
numbers, containing RAT actuator PN 5911905, 5911326 or 5913234.
Requirement: 1. Identify the serial number (SN) of the affected actuator in accordance with the instructions of AIRBUS Service Bulletin (SB) A330-29-3083 or later revisions as approved by the French DGAC.
2. If the actuator SN is greater than 1286, no inspection is required.
3. If the actuator SN is less than or equal to 1286, inspect the correct position of the rotary solenoids and, if necessary, accomplish the corrective measures in accordance with instructions given in AIRBUS SB A330-29-3083 or later revisions as approved by the French DGAC.
Note: DGAC AD F-2002-422R2 refers.
Compliance: Unless previously accomplished prior to 30 September 2004. This Amendment becomes effective on 30 September 2004.
Background: This Directive was issued mandating inspection of the rotary solenoid to ensure deployment of the Ram Air Turbine in an emergency.
This amendment extends the applicability to include -302 and -303 models of the A330 aircraft range.
