AD/A330/6 Emergency Door 3 Type I - Escape Slide
Parachute Pin
13/2002
Applicability: Model A330-201, -202, -203, -223, -243, -301, -321, -322, -323, -341, -342, and -343
aircraft; equipped with escape slide part number 7A1509-101 through -117, serial numbers AD001 through AD0855, at the door 3 Type I exit.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of DGAC AD 2001-359(B) R3.
Note: Airbus All Operator Telex (AOT) A330-25A3154 refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 26 December 2002.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 26 December 2002.
Background: During an escape slide deployment test, a door 3 Type I slide did not deploy.
Investigation revealed an incorrect installation of the slide parachute pin, and if not corrected, a slide non-deployment would prevent egress of passengers from the affected left and right doors during an emergency evacuation. This Directive also requires adjustment of the slide soft cover speed lacing.
David Alan Villiers
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 6 November 2002
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 4 December 2002.
