The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AMD Falcon 10 Series Aeroplanes
AD/AMD 10/24 Nose Landing Gear Actuator Rod 5/2002 DM
Applicability: All Falcon 10 aircraft.
Requirement: 1. Insert Temporary Change No. 24 into the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM); unless Dassault Aviation Service Bulletin (SB) F10-294 has been implemented.
2. Insert Revision 5 of Chapter 5.40 into the Maintenance Manual (MM), irrespective of SB F10-294 implementation.
3. Check for cracks on the NLG actuator rod in accordance with SB F10-294.
Note: DGAC AD 2002-137(B) refers.
Compliance: 1. Before further flight after 27 March 2002. Temporary Change No. 24 may be removed from the AFM after satisfactory SB F10-294 implementation.
2. Upon receipt of MM revision.
3. Before 27 October 2002.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 March 2002.
Background: Cases of nose landing gear up-lock problems have been reported on in-service aircraft. Investigation revealed corrosion initiated cracking of the actuator rod, which resulted in an internal hydraulic leak. In the case of a three-point landing, such cracking can lead to rod fracture and result in nose gear retraction.
