Avro Anson and Avro 19 Series Aeroplanes
AD/ANSON/9 Engine Mount - Inspection 7/50
Applicability: Anson.
Requirement: Inspect the left and right hand engine mounting support frames in accordance with the following:
1. Check for bowing in the open face of the frame between the undercarriage torque tube attachment and the top face of the frame (see Point 'A' on Fig. 1 of this AD). The permissible limit of bowing between these points is .125 inch.
2. Check for bowing between any pair of distance pieces on the open face of the frame (see Point 'B' on Fig. 1 of this AD). The permissible limit of bowing between these points is .0625 inch.
3. Take the following action where limits prescribed in paras. 1 and 2 of this AD are exceeded:
(a) Remove the existing hollow rivets and distance pieces.
(b) Press out the bow on the frame flanges.
(c) Refit new distance pieces of the correct length and replace the hollow rivets by 1/4 in. BSF mild steel bolts.
(d) Lock the nuts by filing back the bolt and centre popping.
4. Bowing on the rear face of the frame at the spar attachment is due to the unmachined finish of the frame and can be ignored; or
