COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 106 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Turbomeca Turbine Engines - Arrius Series
AD/ARRIUS/4 Fuel Injection 11/2001
Applicability: All Arrius 1A and 1E turboshaft engines.
Requirement: Replace fuel injectors in accordance with Turbomeca Service Bulletin A319 73 0071.
Note: DGAC AD 2000-532(A) refers.
Compliance: 1. Injectors with less than 1200 hours time in service, prior to exceeding 1250 hours time in service.
2. Injectors with more than 1200 hours time in service, within 110 hours time in service from the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 1 November 2001.
Background: This Directive has been issued to require the periodic replacement of fuel injectors.
The requirement is in response to reports of fuel injectors being found totally or partially blocked during maintenance. Blockage of fuel injectors may cause engine flame out during engine deceleration or prevent the 2.5 minute one engine inoperative rating being obtained.
Eugene Paul Holzapfel
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 14 September 2001
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 10 October 2001.
