AD/B727/143 Bendix Brakes Fitted with Nasco Rotors 5/93
Applicability: Model 727 series, equipped with Bendix brakes fitted with NASCO rotors installed in accordance with Supplemental Type Certificate SA3948NM; and equipped with brake part numbers identified in the Requirement Document.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 93-02-08 Amdt 39-8490.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document.
Background: An investigation by the FAA of a runway excursion by a Transport Category aircraft following a rejected takeoff, had revealed that the majority of brake assemblies were near the current maximum wear limit and unable to absorb the required energy. This Directive requires new maximum brake wear limits.
