AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 727 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B727/185 Hydraulic Accumulator End Cap Separation 9/2003
Applicability: Boeing 727 series aeroplanes, Line Numbers (L/N) 1 to 1832 inclusive with hydraulic accumulators installed as referenced in Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletins (BSASB) referred to in the Requirements of this Directive.
Requirement: Hydraulic Accumulators in "A" and "B" Systems:
1. Inspect, in accordance with BSASB 727-29-0064 Revision 1, dated 3 May 2001, the hydraulic accumulators in the "A" and "B" hydraulic systems to determine if the part numbers (P/N) are Parker P/N 1356-603303.
2. If hydraulic accumulators, in compliance with Requirement 1, are determined to be Parker P/N 1356-603303, replace with new or modified accumulators in accordance with BSASB 727-29-0064 Revision 1, dated 3 May 2001.
Note 1: BSASB 727-29-0064 Revision 1, refers to Parker Service Bulletin 1356- 603303-29-60, dated 9 January 2001, as the appropriate source of service information for modification of the hydraulic accumulators that are subject to replacement as per BSASB 727-29-0064 Revision 1.
