AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 737 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B737/165 Aft Pressure Bulkhead-to-Fuselage Attachment 10/2001
Applicability: Model 737-700 and –800 series aircraft; line numbers 4, 6, 9 through 20, 29, and 31 through 46.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2001-13-23 Amdt 39-12305.
Note: Boeing Service Bulletin 737-53-1212, including Appendix A, refers.
Compliance: Before the accumulation of 3,000 total flight cycles, or within 90 days after 4 October 2001, whichever occurs later.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 October 2001.
Background: This Directive requires inspection of certain tension bolts at the attachment of the aft pressure bulkhead to the fuselage at body station 1016 to determine if the correct parts are installed. This action is intended to prevent fatigue cracking along the bulkhead- to-fuselage attachment.
