Boeing 737 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B737/3 A.P.U. Generator, Feeder Wire Bundle - Inspection 10/84 Applicability: All model 737 aircraft with S/Nos. specified in Requirement Document. Requirement: Boeing SB 737-24-1038. FAA AD 84-10-04 AMDT 39-4872 refers.
Compliance: 1. Inspect A.P.U. generator feeder wire bundle for interference with control cables prior to further flight after 30 November 1984 as detailed in Requirement Document.
2. Repeat inspection of Para 1 each time the A.P.U. generator circuit breaker is removed.
Note: Termination of the requirement of this Directive may be accomplished by modifying the feeder wire bundle installation in accordance with SB 737-24-1038.
Background: Instances of interference between the A.P.U. generator feeder wire bundle and the first officers elevator down control cable have occurred. The control cable has been severed due to the resultant abrasion and arcing between the two.
