AD/B737/95 Electrical/Electronics Equipment Bay Wire Chafing

Applicability: This Directive is applicable to model 737-300, -400 and -500 series aeroplanes identified in Boeing Service Letter 737-SL-24-106-B dated 15 February 1996.
Requirement: 1. Perform a visual inspection of the electrical/electronics (E/E) equipment bay wire bundles and associated clamps in accordance with Boeing Service Letter 737-SL- 24-106-B dated 15 February 1996.
2. If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspection, damage to the wire bundle or clamps is detected, repair the damaged areas in accordance with Boeing Standard Wiring Practices Manual D6-54446.
3. Reclamp wire bundle W2132 (or W132) by removing steel cushioned clamp P/N BACC10GE( ) and installing nylon clamp P/N BACC10DK( ) on the aft side of the existing nut and bolt hole at body station 360, water line 203, left buttock line 57, in accordance with Service Letter 737-SL-24-106-B.
4. Install additional clamps to wire bundles W2132 (or W132) and power feeder wire bundle W142, in accordance with Service Letter 737-SL-24-106-B.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Prior to 30 September 1997.
For Requirement 2 - Prior to further flight.
For Requirements 3 and 4 - Prior to 30 September 1997.
Background: Boeing has received a report of electrical arcing in the E/E equipment bay caused by chafing of the wire bundles. Action specified in this Directive are intended to prevent chafing of the wire bundles which could result in electrical short circuiting together with fire or smoke in the E/E equipment bay.
