Boeing 747 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B747/161 Triple Channel Autoland Autopilots 7/96
Applicability: This Directive is applicable to Model 747-100, -200, -300 and SP series aeroplanes, equipped with triple channel autoland autopilot systems, identified in Boeing Alert Service Bulletins 747-22A2212 Revision 1 dated 27 April 1995 and 747-22A2213 Revision 2 dated 22 June 1995.
Requirement: 1. Install a diode and a marker on the E1-4, E1-5 and E1-6 shelves and make wiring changes to the flight mode annunciator of the autopilot/flight director system in accordance with either Boeing Alert Service Bulletins 747-22A2212 Revision 1 dated 27 April 1995, 747-22A2213 Revision 1 dated 27 April 1995 or 747- 22A2213 Revision 2 dated 22 June 1995, as applicable.
2. Perform an operational test of the newly installed diodes in accordance with either Boeing Alert Service Bulletins 747-22A2212 Revision 1 dated 27 April 1995, 747- 22A2213 Revision 1 dated 27 April 1995 or 747-22A2213 Revision 2 dated 22 June 1995, as applicable.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Prior to 31 December 1997.
Note: Following compliance with Requirement 1 and upon application to the local Civil Aviation Safety Authority Airworthiness District Office, changes introduced to the Limitations Section of the Aircraft Flight Manual pertaining to Triple Channel Autoland Autopilot operation, may be removed.
For Requirement 2 - Prior to further flight after the accomplishment of Requirement 1 and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 20,000 hours time in service.
