SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Boeing 747 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B747/200 APU Fuel Boost Pumps 6/99 DM
Applicability: Model 747 series aeroplanes with line positions 001 through 1150 inclusive, equipped with an auxiliary power unit (APU) fuel boost pumps manufactured by Lear Romec and having Lear Romec part number (P/N) RR24640B.
Requirement: 1. Replace the APU fuel boost pump in accordance with Boeing Service Bulletin (SB) 747-28A2209 Revision 1 dated 18 February 1999 with either:
1. a pump that has been reworked in accordance with SB 747-28A2209 Revision 1, or
b. an approved pump manufactured by a supplier other than Lear Romec.
2. Lear Romec fuel boost pumps, having P/N RR24640B, may not be installed in any aeroplane unless they have been reworked in accordance with SB 747-28A2209 Revision 1.

Compliance: 1. Prior to 27 July 1999.
2. As of the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 28 April 1999.
Background: This directive is intended to prevent potential failures within the electrical motor assembly of the APU fuel boost pump which could result in fuel leakage from the electrical connector or electrical arcing across the connector pins. This condition could further result in a fuel fire.
