COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Boeing 747 Series Aeroplanes AD/B747/206 Upper Link Assembly on Number 2 and Number 3 Engine Struts 7/99 Applicability: Boeing 747 series aircraft, line positions 1 through 886; equipped with Pratt & Whitney JT9D-3 or -7, or General Electric CF6-45 or -50 engine struts. Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 99-08-01 Amdt 39- 11105. Note: Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 747-54A2187 refers. Compliance: Initial and repeat inspections as specified in the requirement document with a revised effective date of 15 July 1999. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 July 1999. Background: The FAA received reports of corrosion and cracks located at the four fasteners that attach to the aft end to the upper link assembly on the number 2 and number 3 engine struts.
