COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/B747/216 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 747 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B747/216
Amdt 1
Video Monitor Supports 1/2005
Applicability: Model 747-400 and 400D series aircraft, as listed in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 747-25A3142 Revision 3, dated 14 August 2003.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2004-22-15 Amdt 39-13843.
Note: Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 747-25A3142 Revision 3, or later FAA approved revision, refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 20 January 2005.
This Amendment becomes effective on 20 January 2005.
Background: The FAA received reports of the video monitor ceiling panels falling into the cabin due to failure of certain latch assemblies during turbulence. This Directive requires installation of strap assemblies on the ceiling panels and rails that support the video monitors.
Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which for certain aircraft, requires replacement of certain plate assemblies within the ceiling panel strap assemblies with new, improved plate assemblies; and widens the applicability of the directive.
David Villiers
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 3 December 2004
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 22 December 2004.
