AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: Model 747SP series aeroplanes modified by United States Federal Aviation
9/2001 Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST09097AC-D. Requirement: 1. Accomplish the following: 1. Modify the passenger entertainment system (PES) by installing a power switch and a load-shed circuit breaker, as well as associated relays and wiring, in accordance with Raytheon Service Bulletin (SB) 747(SP)VIP-24-1, dated 22 September 2000.
b. Revise the Normal Procedures and Emergency Procedures sections of the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) to advise the flight crew on using the power switch to remove power from the PES in the event of an emergency related to smoke or fire, in accordance with Raytheon Airplane Flight Manual Supplement 747SP-21, dated 16 October 2000, which is supplied with Raytheon SB 747(SP)VIP-24-1.
