Applicability: Model 747-400 series as listed in Boeing Alert SB 747-25A2862.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 91-03-16 Amdt 39- 6875.
Note: Boeing SB 747-25A 2862 Rev. 1 refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document but with a revised effectivity date of 18 April 1991 for Australian registered aircraft.
Background: The possibility of smoking material falling behind the sidewall lining when the ashtray is either partially opened or closed, has prompted the issue of this AD. This condition, if not corrected, could result in the smoking material starting a fire.
