COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes AD/B767/101 Passenger Compartment Lights - Wire Bundle 7/98 Applicability: Model 767-200 and -300 series aeroplanes listed in Boeing Service Bulletin (SB) 767- 33-0052 Revision 1 dated 8 December 1994 as revised by Boeing Notice of Status Change 767-33-0052 NSC 01 dated 9 May 1996. Requirement: Inspect, repair if necessary, and relocate the wire bundles installed above the main passenger door in accordance with Boeing SB 767-33-0052 Revision 1 dated 8 December 1994 as revised by Boeing Notice of Status Change 767-33-0052 NSC 01 dated 9 May 1996. Note 1: Inspection, repair and relocation of the wire bundles accomplished in accordance with either, SB 767-33-0052 dated 2 April 1992 or Revision 1 dated 8 December 1994, prior to the effective date of this directive is considered acceptable compliance with this directive. Note 2: FAA AD 98-07-13 Amdt 39-10433. Compliance: Within 12 months from the effective date of this directive. This airworthiness directive becomes effective on 18 June 1998. Background: The FAA has advised that one operator submitted a report indicating that the opening of the main passenger door caused the door liner and a ceiling panel to chafe and ultimately break wires installed in the area above the main passenger door. This directive requires a one time inspection, repair if necessary , and the relocation of wire bundles above the door. These actions are intended to prevent the wires from becoming worn or broken, which could lead to the failure of several systems such as the fuel shut-off valves.
