Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes
AD/B767/112 MLG Beam Outboard Support Fuse Pins 8/99
Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft, line numbers 1 through 609; having 4330M steel fuse pins installed in the outboard support of the main landing gear (MLG) beam.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 99-11-14 Amdt 39- 11185.
Note: Installation of newer-type 15-5PH CRES fuse pins in accordance with Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-57A0054 Revision 2 or Revision 3 constitutes terminating action for the repetitive inspection requirements of this Directive.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document for the initial and repetitive inspection requirements, with a revised effective date of 12 August 1999.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 August 1999.
Background: The FAA received a report of corrosion on a fuse pin in the outboard support of the MLG beam. Corrosion or chrome plating cracks could result in the failure of a fuse pin and consequent collapse of the landing gear.
