Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes

Amdt 3
Wing Leading Edge Slat Control Rod 11/96
Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft; as listed in Boeing Service Bulletin 767-57-0021 Revision 1 or Revision 5.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 96-14-05 Amdt 39- 9687.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document.
Background: Reports were received of cracks and worn attach bolts of the control rods of the wing outboard leading edge slats. The actions specified by this Directive are intended to prevent reduced controllability of the aircraft and damage in the slat structure or fixed leading edge of the wing.
Amendment 3 is issued in response to a new FAA AD which requires installation of the previously optional terminating action.
The original issue of this airworthiness directive became effective on 30 November 1989.
Amendment 1 of this airworthiness directive became effective on 19 April 1990. Amendment 2 of this airworthiness directive became effective on 21 February 1991.
