COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes AD/B767/90 Aileron Cable/Generator Power Feeder Cable Chafing 9/96 TX Applicability: This Directive is applicable to 767 series aeroplanes with line numbers 1 through 618 except for line numbers 580, 590, 594, 598 and 600. Requirement: 1. Inspect the aileron control cables (A2B-3 and A1A-3) and the generator power feeder cables (W208 and W204) on both the right and left sides of the aeroplane, in accordance with Boeing Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 767-24A0113 Revision 1 dated 2 July 1996. 2. If necessary, repair the cables and adjust the clearances between the cables in accordance with the ASB. Note: Boeing Telex M-7240-96-1143 dated 27 June 1996 and FAA Emergency Telegraphic AD T96-14-51 Docket 96-NM-161-AD refer. Compliance: Prior to 16 July 1996. Background: The FAA has received two reports of failure of the aileron control cable. These failures have been attributed to inadequate clearance between the left side aileron control cable and the right generator power feeder cable. Actions mandated by this Directive are intended to minimise the possibility of cable chafing and subsequent damage to cables, which could result in reduced controllability of the aeroplane.
