COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes AD/B767/98 Main Gear Forward Trunnion Joint 12/97 Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft, line positions 1 through 600 inclusive, except line positions 579 and 586. Requirement: Inspect the main landing gear retaining bolt in accordance with Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-32A0157. Note: FAA AD 97-16-03 Amdt 39-10093 refers. Compliance: Unless already accomplished, within 500 flight hours or 300 flight cycles after 6 November 1997, whichever occurs later. This airworthiness directive becomes effective on 6 November 1997. Background: The FAA received a report indicating that a disconnected retaining bolt was found in the main landing gear forward trunnion joint of a Model 767 series aircraft. The actions specified by this Directive are intended to prevent aft-acting trunnion loads from being transferred to the main gear beam, and consequent fracture and collapse of the main landing gear.
